The Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) and the Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) inked a historic MoU on April 7, 2026. The primary services covered by the agreement are drydocking and ship repair for DCIL’s fleet.
The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Shri Santosh Jha, was present during the signing of the MoU. Representatives from both companies, DCIL’s Capt. S. Divakar (MD & CEO) and CDPLC’s Mr. Thimira S. Godakumbura (MD/CEO), signed the document.
This collaboration was made possible by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). The signing ceremony was attended by MDL executives, including the Chairman and Managing Director.
As a result of the deal, Colombo Dockyard will receive valuable drydocking and ship repair contracts from India. The fact that MDL is still dedicated to helping its Colombo affiliate succeed is more evidence of this.
The significance of strengthening the marine cooperation between Sri Lanka and India was emphasised by officials. The two adjacent nations have reached a major milestone in their bilateral marine cooperation with the MoU.
