Delhi-NCR Chokes Under Thick Smog, Air Quality in ‘Severe’ Category

Delhi-NCR is experiencing severe air quality with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 457, significantly impacting visibility and raising health concerns.

The smog caused a drop in visibility, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a dense fog warning. Pollution levels are alarmingly high, with areas like Akshardham and Dwarka reporting AQIs of 493 and 469, respectively, while readings exceeded 500 in several locations.

In response, the Commission for Air Quality Management has activated Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan, imposing strict restrictions including a halt on construction activities and tightening vehicle regulations to mitigate the pollution crisis.
