The 11th Ayurveda Day 2026 was observed across the country with public awareness, community outreach, academic sessions, wellness programmes and student activities. Ayush institutions organised campaigns focused on Ayurveda, healthy lifestyles, nutrition, preventive healthcare and scientific research. The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Jhansi, conducted Ayurveda pledge and yoga camps, educational visits, cleanliness drives and medicinal plant activities. It also organised a “Run for Ayurveda”, webinars, public awareness programmes and competitions in painting, rangoli and quizzes. The activities brought together students, youth, staff and members of the public.
Drives Awareness and Community Outreach
The R.R.A. Podar Central Ayurveda Research Institute (RRAP-CARI), Mumbai, held a webinar on “Research Innovation, Patenting and Entrepreneurship in Ayurveda”. It also conducted Ayush wellness programmes for CISF personnel and an Ayurveda Walkathon at Kharghar, which drew more than 200 participants. Other activities included an Ayurveda Aahar cooking competition, a drawing competition for school children, an Ayush Food Festival and cleanliness drives. The institute also distributed more than 100 medicinal plant saplings. Its celebrations concluded with a valedictory programme on September 23.
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Gangtok, observed the occasion at ICAR, Tadong. Researchers, healthcare professionals and scholars from Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Sowa-Rigpa and other traditional systems took part. Technical sessions covered Ayurveda’s role in health and well-being. They also examined its relevance to contemporary healthcare and encouraged knowledge sharing among practitioners.
The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Kolkata, organised medicinal plant and raw drug exhibitions, yoga demonstrations, IEC activities and medical camps. It also held an Ayush Aahar Festival and competitions in rangoli, slogans, posters and quizzes. The institute conducted awareness programmes through Akashvani and Doordarshan. A webinar also focused on geriatric healthcare through Ayurveda. The celebrations concluded with Dhanvantari Puja and a programme on Ayurveda, scientific research, evidence-based healthcare and holistic well-being.
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Ahmedabad, conducted public awareness lectures on Ayurveda, healthy lifestyles, diet and disease prevention. It also organised poster-making, rangoli, quiz and elocution competitions for students. The activities were held in collaboration with Shri Balahnuman Ayurveda College, Lodara and Government Akhandanand Ayurveda College, Ahmedabad. The institute also conducted interactive sessions on Ayurveda and healthy living for staff of the Reserve Bank of India, CISF and ONGC.
Ayurveda Day Expands Student and Wellness Engagement
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Itanagar, organised awareness lectures and a “Selfie with 11th Ayurveda Day” campaign. It distributed 134 medicinal plant saplings between September 9 and 23. The institute also held a health camp, essay competition and herbal garden initiative at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Chimpu. Other activities included a webinar, medicinal plant exhibition and cleanliness drive.
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Gwalior, organised lectures, public awareness activities, medicinal plant distribution and exhibitions. It also conducted a “Run for Ayurveda” and other health-promoting activities. The programmes highlighted healthy lifestyles, disease prevention and holistic well-being. They also focused on linking Ayurvedic principles with modern scientific research and evidence-based knowledge. The celebrations concluded with Dhanvantari Puja on September 23. Institute officials, scientists, staff and students participated.
The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Shillong, conducted activities from September 9 to 23. These included free health camps, medicinal plant and plantation drives, student outreach, yoga sessions, academic lectures, competitions and public awareness programmes. The institute also organised an Ayush Food Festival, Open Day, radio talk, medicinal plant awareness campaign and student reel-making competition. The programme concluded with Dhanvantari Puja, a plantation drive and a valedictory programme.
The National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Pune, organised a plantation drive at its Nisarg Gram campus. Prof. (Dr.) Geetha Shetty, Director, NIN, inaugurated the drive. Faculty members and experts planted medicinal species including Bilva, Shatavari, Arjuna, Guduchi and Ghrita Kumari (Aloe vera).
Ayurveda Day Includes Academic Outreach in New Delhi
The Ayurveda Treatment Centre (ATC), Safdarjung Hospital, CCRAS-CARI, New Delhi, organised an academic lecture on “Alternative Systems of Medicine in India” on September 23. Dr. Shivshankar Rajput, In-charge, ATC, Safdarjung Hospital, delivered the lecture for 164 first-year MBBS students and faculty members of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The session covered Ayurveda, its fundamental principles and therapeutic approaches. It also discussed their relevance to contemporary healthcare. Participants were introduced to the Ministry of Ayush, its organisational structure, key initiatives and schemes. The session also covered major reforms and ongoing research in Ayurveda.
The nationwide Ayurveda Day activities highlighted the role of Ayush institutions in public health awareness, healthy living, nutrition, academic engagement, scientific research and community outreach. The programmes reflected the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow.”
