Completing the first-phase milestone of the Head Race Tunnel (HRT) between Face 0 and Face 1—a length of 1,117.69 meters with a tunnel diameter of 3.1 x 3.2 meters—was a major accomplishment for the 48 MW Chanju Hydro Electric Project being built by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited in Chamba district.
The building of the 5,145.84-meter-long tunnel is ongoing on many fronts, and this breakthrough connects around 1.8 km of that length. The project is making strong and steady progress, which is crucial.
This achievement is a result of the hard work, technical knowledge, and perseverance of our engineers, contractors, and employees, who overcame difficult geological conditions in the Himalayas.
This is a major step forward for HPPCL as they get closer to commissioning the project and providing Himachal Pradesh with clean, sustainable energy.
