In an effort to keep domestic prices from rising in response to increasing fuel costs, the government has temporarily lowered landing and parking fees for airlines by 25% for a period of three months.
Airline expenses will be reduced by approximately ₹400 crore at main airports, according to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
This reduction is to be enforced at major airports by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA), and at non-major airports by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Future tariff cycles will close any revenue imbalance.
The decision is made at a time when tensions in West Asia have caused ATF prices to spike globally. As part of Narendra Modi’s plan, the government will help airlines and keep fares low.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, they will keep an eye on things and act accordingly.
