Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station Gets Direct Access to Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat Station

Improving multimodal connectivity and commuter convenience, a new 300-meter Foot Over Bridge (FOB) has been commissioned and opened for public use, connecting Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station with Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat Station in the national capital.

Everyday commuters and long-distance travellers will appreciate the infrastructure’s efforts to streamline passenger movement between the railway station and the Namo Bharat transit network. It will greatly improve accessibility and reduce transfer time. There are six 65-meter-long moving walkways (travellators) on the FOB, three in each direction, to facilitate quicker pedestrian movement. Commuters will only need about four or five minutes to complete the entire stretch.

There are now lifts that are suitable for Divyangjan passengers and escalators that make efficient vertical mobility possible at the Sarai Kale Khan station, which greatly improves accessibility. Directional signage, instruction boards, sufficient lighting, and CCTV surveillance are all in place to ensure the safety and ease of navigation within the facility. The authorities have set up one enquiry counter and five ticket counters on the railway station side for the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS). To further encourage the use of digital tickets, eight automated ticket vending machines (ATVMs) and the Rail One Super App, which uses QR codes for purchasing tickets, have been implemented.

The new FOB will provide better pedestrian connectivity from the Ring Road corridor and is expected to simplify passenger flow between Hazrat Nizamuddin station and the Sarai Kale Khan transport hub.

The development is a part of a larger initiative to improve the last-mile connectivity throughout the growing regional transit ecosystem in Delhi and to fortify the integrated urban mobility infrastructure.
