Global uncertainties, conflicts, and economic challenges are becoming more severe, according to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who stated on Thursday that BRICS is expected to play a constructive and stabilising role.
During his speech at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bharat Mandapam, he brought attention to the fact that trade, climate change, and technological advancements are causing fast changes in global relations.
Since many nations are struggling with issues related to energy, food, fertiliser, and health security, Jaishankar stressed that development concerns are still at the heart of the grouping. He emphasised that stable supply chains and diverse markets are foundational to a resilient economy.
Recognising climate change as an urgent issue on a global scale, he emphasised the need for action centred around fairness and collective accountability. In addition, he stressed the significance of using technology to promote inclusive growth and enhance governance.
Peace and security are essential to the global order, the minister said, stressing the need of stronger counter-terrorism cooperation, diplomacy, and dialogue in the face of geopolitical tensions.
He went on to say that India, in its role as chair, will encourage candid and fruitful debate in order to deepen collaboration and produce tangible results.
