The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) acknowledged Western Coalfields Limited’s (WCL) ongoing efforts in implementing welfare measures and issued new guidelines to further strengthen these initiatives for Scheduled Caste (SC) employees during an official visit by NCSC Member Waddepalley Ramchander in Nagpur on April 18, 2026.
The visit focused on evaluating employee welfare schemes, adherence to constitutional safeguards, and the protection of SC employees’ rights within the organisation. The Commission also assessed the effectiveness of existing support systems and compliance with statutory provisions related to social justice and inclusion.
During the review meeting, Sandeep Paranjpe, Director (Technical – Projects & Planning), briefed the delegation on WCL’s operational landscape and ongoing welfare initiatives. G. Sunil Kumar Babu, Director, NCSC, emphasised the importance of strict adherence to constitutional provisions governing reservation policies and inclusive practices.
Senior officials, including Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (HR/Industrial Relations), and Atul Bansod, Liaison Officer (SC/ST), were present at the meeting and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to ensuring equitable opportunities and strengthening welfare frameworks.
Senior representatives from finance, medical, and civil welfare departments participated in the review, which reflected the organisation’s comprehensive approach to employee welfare.
The Commission concluded the visit by acknowledging WCL’s efforts and issuing further guidelines to enhance welfare measures and policy implementation.
