The first renovated metro trainset equipped with an advanced IP-based Passenger Announcement and Passenger Information System (PAPIS) was delivered today by RITES Ltd., the leading transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering firm, in conjunction with its consortium partners r2p Asia-Pacific Pty Ltd., Australia, and ACT Fibreglass Ltd. At the Najafgarh Depot in New Delhi, the renovated trainset was flagged-off by Dr. Vikas Kumar, the managing director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Metro networks will benefit from the system’s onboard communication capabilities, which will increase operational efficiency while also improving passenger convenience and safety. Featuring a centralised Human Machine Interface (HMI) and an innovative integrated IP-based architecture, it allows for seamless control of passenger information, public speech,CCTV, and communication systems.
The PAPIS, which is based on Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifies wiring, lowers lifetime costs, increases dependability, and makes maintenance easier. Video surveillance, emergency communication, and alarm systems are all part of the integrated safety measures, and real-time diagnostics help with effective operations. The solution satisfies the requirements of MeitY/STQC, EN, and BIS.
Refurbishment of the EDB and relay panels, as well as the installation of IV couplers, a fire detection system, and a mobile charging outlet, have all been finished in addition to PAPIS.
The urban mobility ecosystem continues to benefit from RITES’s benchmarked, future-ready solutions, thanks to the company’s proficiency in transport infrastructure and system integration.
