51 Years Strong: NEEPCO Celebrates Foundation Day

On April 2, 2026, at its Corporate Office in Shillong, the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) joyfully commemorated its 51st Foundation Day. This milestone signifies more than half a century of committed service to the country’s energy sector.

The ceremonial Guard of Honour and hoisting of the NEEPCO flag, representing the organization’s everlasting dedication to excellence, marked the beginning of the program.

During his keynote presentation, Shri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NEEPCO, praised the company’s impressive history and the positive impact it has had on the electricity industry, especially in the North Eastern Region. Consistently providing excellence across projects and operations, he lauded the organization’s efforts, remarkable successes, and staff dedication. He characterised NEEPCO as NTPC’s hydro division and stressed the company’s strategic value in bolstering the country’s renewable energy portfolio. The welcoming presentation was given by B. Maharana, Director (Finance), and it outlined the history, accomplishments, and future plans of NEEPCO. During his welcome remark, the Director (Finance) conveyed great satisfaction in NEEPCO’s fifty-year journey, showcasing the organization’s rise to prominence in India’s energy sector.

A documentary that chronicles the history of NEEPCO was shown, providing an overview of its development and significant moments along the way. The event also featured the launch of the Vigilance Bulletin and ended with the Chief Human Resource Officer’s (CHRO) vote of gratitude.
