In 2026, on April 1, NTPC Talcher Kaniha commemorated Odisha’s founding day by celebrating Utkal Diwas. The Executive Director of Talcher Kaniha, K. N. Reddy, was present at the function.
A live performance of the state song, “Bandhe Utkal Janani,” followed the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, which opened the event. The Chief Speaker emphasised the historical and cultural relevance of Odisha Diwas throughout the occasion.
Various dance traditions, including Odissi, Sambalpuri, and modern performances, showcased Odisha’s rich legacy in the celebration’s lively cultural program.
Residents of the Kaniha township, members of Tanvi Sangam, representatives from several unions and associations, the Chief Speaker of the DC (CISF), and senior executives of NTPC Talcher Kaniha were also in attendance at the occasion. During Utkal Diwas, which lasted for a whole week, NTPC Talcher Kaniha hosted a number of contests meant to highlight and celebrate local traditions. The purpose of these events was to raise awareness of and appreciation for Odisha’s rich cultural history through the presentation of traditional art forms and unique cultural expressions, such as the Pitha (traditional delicacy) competition Jhoti Chitha and the Hulahuli.
