India Thanks Azerbaijan for Swift Evacuation Support

The Indian government thanked the Azerbaijani government on Thursday for helping Indian citizens get out of Iran during the current crisis in the region.

In a statement given to the media by Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, it was announced that 204 Indian people had entered Azerbaijan across the land border with Iran. There have been some returns to India from the evacuees, and more are on the way.

Thanks to Azerbaijan’s diplomatic and logistical assistance, Indian citizens were able to travel safely. Communication between the two nations is constant, and plans are afoot to organise additional evacuations should the need arise.

In a separate development, Abhay Kumar presented his credentials to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov not long ago. Assistance provided during the evacuation was one of the many topics discussed during the conference, which also touched on regional trends, bilateral relations, and potential areas of cooperation.

Azerbaijani officials said that during the meeting, the two countries discussed the current state of relations, looked into ways to improve cooperation, and shared perspectives on the changing situation in the Middle East.

According to previous reports from the MEA, approximately 882 Indian nationals, including students, professionals, and pilgrims, have been making their way back to India via Azerbaijan and Armenia. Only 280 out of 284 pilgrims in Iran have made it back via Armenia; the rest are due any minute now.

As part of its continuing diplomatic engagement with regional allies, India has planned an evacuation to reassure its citizens living overseas that they are safe.
