Capacity Surge: Jindal Steel and Power Expands Angul Plant to 12 MTPA

Jindal Steel Limited’s Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha has been expanded to 6 million tonnes per year (MTPA) with the successful commissioning of the third Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF-3) of 3 MTPA. The factory is currently one of the largest single-location integrated steel complexes in India, with a total crude steel capacity of 12 MTPA, thanks to this development.

Full operationalisation of BOF-2 and BOF-3, along with related upstream and downstream facilities like coke ovens and CRM complex, is part of the expansion. This will allow for the smooth integration of these systems and the ramp-up of production capacity. This marks a significant achievement for Jindal Steel, bringing its total crude steel capacity to 15.6 MTPA. Of this, 3.6 MTPA will be produced at the Raigarh facility.
