Adani Power Limited Bags 1,600 MW Power Supply Contract from MSEDCL

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has awarded Adani Power Limited a contract to supply 1,600 MW of power from one of its forthcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power projects, the company announced on Sunday.

With a combined tariff of ₹5.30 per kWh, the business came out on top in the bidding process. It is anticipated that the power supply under the planned 25-year agreement will begin in FY 2030-31.

Amidst increasing investments in India’s thermal power sector, the company’s pipeline of long-term agreements continues to grow with the current contract. Adani Power has received five long-term PSAs totalling 10,400 MW during FY25-26.

The award recognises the company’s potential to provide consistent baseload power at affordable prices, which is crucial to meet the increasing demand for electricity in India. CEO S. B. Khyalia expressed gratitude for the recognition.

After receiving the grant, Adani Power secured long-term power purchase agreements (PSAs) for 13.3 GW of the 23.8 GW capacity that is now being implemented. With contracts in place for the medium to long term, it has now secured more than 95% of its 18.15 GW operational capacity.

With an expenditure of over ₹2 lakh crore, the business is planning to boost its thermal power capacity from 18.15 GW to 41.87 GW by FY31-32, in order to fulfil the increasing demand for electricity in India.
