NTPC Bongaigaon & BTC Partner to Launch Space Labs in Bodoland

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, the NTPC Bongaigaon arm of NTPC Limited has established three Education Space Labs in the Bodoland Territorial Region’s Chirang and Kokrajhar districts to encourage children to think creatively and scientifically.

Participating schools in the project include Amguri Higher Secondary School in Chirang (Mahendra Narzary Memorial Space Lab), Runikata Higher Secondary School (Bijendra Wary Memorial Space Lab), and Kachugaon Public High School (Devicharan Brahma Memorial Space Lab) in Kokrajhar (Bodoland Territorial Council government).

Famous people who made significant contributions to the growth of the area are commemorated by the namesakes of the laboratories.

On behalf of the Bodoland Territorial Council, executive members Derhasat Basumatary (Health & Family Welfare) and Rabiram Narzary (Education), as well as Amit Kumar Asthana (Additional General Manager (HR)) from NTPC Bongaigaon, were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The establishment of each lab has cost ₹20 lakh, bringing the total expenditure in the project to ₹60 lakh.

Spacesuits, instructional drones, telescopes, demonstration rockets, satellite imaging study kits, and interactive science modules are just a few of the more than 30 scientific learning equipment items available at the facilities.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about space science, astronomy, and new technology through practical demonstrations and activities in these labs.

Each centre is anticipated to assist more than 1,000 kids per year by providing them with avenues to delve deeper into STEM subjects outside of the typical classroom setting and by fostering an interest in professions associated with these fields.

Officials from NTPC Limited claimed that the initiative is a continuation of the company’s CSR efforts to improve the Bodoland region’s educational infrastructure and foster a scientific mindset among the region’s young.
