The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Institute of Fire, Safety & Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS) have inked a partnership to ensure that HPCL staff receive specific live-fire training in order to enhance the company’s emergency response skills.
Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, HPCL’s Executive Director – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), and Dharmendra Wakharikar, IFSDMS’s Chief Coordinator, signed the agreement in the presence of Vikram Mahurkar, IFSDMS’s President and Managing Director of Checkmate Group.
An enormous network of refineries, depots, terminals, and over 21,000 fuel retail outlets is run by HPCL, a Maharatna CPSE and a key participant in India’s energy sector. In order to better prepare cops to deal with high-risk industrial situations, the partnership is combining classroom training with realistic live-fire simulations.
On 75 acres of land close to Vadodara, the IFSDMS complex simulates real-world industrial units, including process units and LPG facilities, to teach students sophisticated fire and disaster management techniques. The facility regularly hosts live-fire exercises meant to simulate real-life emergencies that can arise in large-scale manufacturing facilities.
In order to better protect vital energy infrastructure and handle industrial catastrophes, HPCL hopes to fortify its safety culture, increase staff readiness, and boost response capabilities through the cooperation.
