Railways Approves Big Upgrade Plan for Northern Zone with ₹421.41 Cr Funding

To improve the safety and efficiency of the high-density and highly used networks, the Ministry of Railways has given the green light to two massive infrastructure projects under Northern Railway, totalling ₹421.41 crore.

As part of these projects, 34 stations in the Delhi and Ambala Divisions will have electronic interlocking systems installed. These stations are located in areas where the “Kavach” automatic train protection system is in use.

Electronic interlocking will be installed at 21 stations in the Delhi Division at a cost of ₹292.24 Cr and at 13 stations in the Ambala Division at a cost of ₹129.17 Cr.

By replacing mechanical systems with computer-based ones, this upgrade allows for safer and more efficient train operations on congested lines while drastically cutting down on human error.
