The Centre, represented by Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi, confirmed in Parliament that no renewable energy projects have been canceled or are planned for cancellation.
Since April 2023, Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies (REIA) have issued letters of award for 67,554 megawatts of renewable power.
The minister highlighted the increasing shift towards solar-plus-storage solutions, which are preferred by distribution companies for their ability to supply power during peak demand. India currently has 259 GW of installed non-fossil fuel-based generation capacity and has added 31.2 GW in the current financial year.
The government is encouraging states to comply with the Renewable Consumption Obligation, and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has not advised against lending for renewable energy projects, contrary to media reports.
