DoT Creates 24/7 Control Room to Safeguard Telecom Links as Cyclone Ditwah Approaches

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has established a 24/7 Control Room to maintain telecom resilience amid the threat of Cyclone Ditwah, which is expected to impact coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The control room will coordinate with service providers and district administrations to ensure network continuity, including adequate fuel reserves and emergency power backups.

DoT has completed necessary tests to maintain communication during emergencies. The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for several regions, forecasting rainfall and thunderstorms, with significant impacts reported including fatalities and damage to agriculture. The situation is being closely monitored as weather conditions evolve.
