India Marks National Cancer Awareness Day 2025

On National Cancer Awareness Day, the Ministry of Ayush emphasized the urgent need to enhance public awareness and early detection of cancer, which is the second leading cause of death worldwide.

The Minister, Prataprao Jadhav, advocated for a proactive approach, revealing initiatives to establish integrative cancer-care centres, conduct collaborative research, and implement community outreach programs.

The ministry promotes preventive measures against lifestyle factors contributing to cancer, highlighting the importance of early detection, particularly for breast, cervical, and oral cancers.

Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha noted the ministry’s commitment to patient-centric solutions through Centres of Excellence, partnerships with institutions like TMC–ACTREC and Arya Vaidya Sala, and the integration of modern oncology with Ayush systems.

The Ministry’s strategy centers on prevention, early diagnosis, and supportive care to address the increasing cancer burden, ultimately aiming to improve patient outcomes and community wellbeing.
