External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor, during their meeting at the UN General Assembly, expressed a commitment to enhancing US-India relations.
The State Department highlighted their mutual goal of advancing the partnership, following Jaishankar’s prior discussions with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which emphasized sustained engagement on key priorities.
Gor, awaiting Senate confirmation, noted the significance of the US-India partnership for the 21st Century and acknowledged the importance of President Trump’s friendship with Prime Minister Modi.
He aims to address trade tensions, including tariffs imposed during the Trump administration, by improving bilateral trade ties to enhance US competitiveness and counter China’s influence.
