The 65th Annual Mines Safety Week 2025, organized by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), was observed at NLC India Limited, Neyveli from September 8th to 14th, 2025.
The event featured stalls displaying in-house safety models by Mine-I, Mine-II, and Mine-IA, and included a valedictory function on September 13th. Chief guests Mohammed Niyazi and Mahesh Chatla, along with officials from NLCIL and the Tamil Nadu Mines Safety Association (TNMSA), emphasized the importance of “Zero Harm” and collective responsibility in mining safety.
Prizes were awarded for achievements in first aid, safety models, and zero accident initiatives. Cultural programs and a souvenir release marked the occasion. The week concluded with a message to “Think, Talk, and Practice Safety.” An inspection team awarded Mine-I the overall first prize and Mine-II the second prize. A new initiative included student participation with scientific models, showcasing innovative ideas.
