CBIC Rejects Misleading Viral Message on GST Transition Benefits

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has officially refuted a widely circulated social media message that claimed new Goods and Services Tax (GST) transition benefits would be implemented starting September 22.

These purported benefits included the utilization of unutilised cess credit, the allowance of Input Tax Credit (ITC) on exempted supplies, and the introduction of new price adjustment provisions.

CBIC characterized these claims as “false and misleading” and issued a statement on the social media platform X urging the public, trade, and industry to rely solely on official government notifications, circulars, and FAQs for accurate information regarding GST reforms. The board emphasized that no such changes or transition benefits are currently planned.
