The Government of India has appointed Saurabh, a 2012-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), as Director in the Ministry of Steel, New Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The appointment is for a five-year tenure and marks his induction into a Director-level administrative position within the Union Ministry.
The Ministry of Steel plays a significant role in formulating policies and coordinating initiatives to strengthen India’s iron and steel industry, promote domestic manufacturing, encourage investment, and support industrial growth.
In his new position, Saurabh will contribute to the Ministry’s administrative and policy-related functions, with specific responsibilities determined by his assigned division.
The appointment comes as India’s steel industry continues to focus on capacity expansion, technological modernisation, sustainability and competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
The Ministry also oversees key public sector enterprises, including Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and NMDC Limited, which play important roles in the country’s steel and mineral resources ecosystem.
Saurabh’s appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme represents another administrative placement aimed at supporting the functioning of Central Government ministries and strengthening institutional coordination.
