OMC CMD: The Odisha Government has promoted Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS) as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC).
Samal is currently serving as Managing Director of OMC and holds the additional charge of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central Division, Cuttack. He will continue to hold the RDC responsibility alongside his new role as OMC CMD.
OMC CMD Appointment Takes Effect on Assumption of Charge
According to an order issued by the Government of Odisha, Samal’s appointment as CMD will take effect from the date he assumes charge and will remain in force until further orders.
With the new appointment, Samal will replace Girish SN (IAS), who was serving as Chairman of OMC.
Sudhansu Mohan Samal Brings Three Decades of Experience
Hailing from Kendrapara, Samal is an economist with extensive experience in public administration and corporate leadership.
He previously served in the Planning Commission and managed several districts as a District Collector before taking on leadership responsibilities in the corporate sector.
During his tenure at OMC, the company has pursued digital and operational transformation aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening compliance and enhancing state revenues.
OMC Accelerates Digital Transformation
Samal has promoted greater use of technology across OMC’s operations, with a focus on reducing legacy manual processes, improving product consistency and strengthening supply-chain transparency.
One of the key initiatives is the Integrated Operations & Monitoring Centre, which enables real-time digital oversight of field extraction activities.
OMC has also introduced digital tools including the e-Safety Diary and Secure Trip Management System. These initiatives are designed to strengthen workforce safety and improve logistics management.
Samal Takes Charge as OMC CMD
With his elevation as OMC CMD, Sudhansu Mohan Samal will lead Odisha Mining Corporation while continuing to hold the additional charge of RDC, Central Division, Cuttack.
His appointment marks a leadership transition for the Odisha government-owned mining company as OMC continues its focus on digitalisation, operational efficiency, supply-chain transparency and technology-led transformation.
