IndianOil Refineries will play a key role in strengthening India’s energy security and supporting the country’s journey towards greater self-reliance, Director (Refineries) Arvind Kumar said during the 67th IndianOil Day celebrations.
Mr Kumar led the celebrations at IndianOil’s Refineries Headquarters, where employees from across the Refineries Division joined virtually.
IndianOil Refineries Strengthen Energy Security
Reflecting on IndianOil’s 66-year journey, Arvind Kumar highlighted the Corporation’s continued role in meeting India’s energy needs.
He commended employees for maintaining uninterrupted energy supplies through coordinated efforts during the recent West Asia crisis. He also highlighted the division’s efforts to increase LPG production by nearly 35%.
The higher LPG output helped reduce import dependence and strengthened domestic supply security.
Addressing employees, Kumar said, “We cannot choose the environment in which we operate. But we can choose how we respond to it.”
Refineries Focus on Green Hydrogen and Petrochemicals
The IndianOil Refineries division is also adapting to a changing energy landscape.
Kumar highlighted the growing integration of refineries with the petrochemicals sector, along with the expansion of specialty products. He also pointed to the development of India’s first large-scale 10 KTA Green Hydrogen Plant.
He said the refinery of the future must become more integrated, intelligent, energy-efficient, sustainable and resilient.
IndianOil Recognises Employee Contributions
The 67th IndianOil Day celebrations also recognised employee contributions through the Suggestion Scheme Awards, Swachhata Awards and Long Service Awards.
The awards highlighted the role of employees in improving operations and supporting the Corporation’s long-term goals.
IndianOil Continues Social Outreach
Earlier in the day, Arvind Kumar visited The Blind Relief Association, Delhi, under IndianOil’s “Smiles We Spread” outreach initiative.
He interacted with visually impaired students and reaffirmed IndianOil’s commitment to inclusive and accessible education.
The focus on operational resilience, green hydrogen, domestic LPG production and social outreach underlines the expanding role of IndianOil Refineries in supporting India’s energy security and self-reliance.
