The NABARD IMD MoU will integrate the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) agro-meteorological data products with NABARD’s DiCRA (Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture) platform. The partnership aims to provide free access to critical weather information for farmers, financial institutions, policymakers and researchers.
NABARD IMD MoU to Strengthen DiCRA Platform
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate weather data into DiCRA.
The collaboration will combine IMD’s weather intelligence with DiCRA’s geospatial datasets. The objective is to convert weather information into decision-ready insights for users across the agricultural ecosystem.
The platform will provide information at the district and block levels. This will help stakeholders access more relevant and location-specific weather intelligence.
Weather Data Integration to Support Agriculture
The NABARD IMD MoU will bring several weather-related datasets and services to the DiCRA platform.
Key components will include:
- District and block-level weather forecasts
- Agrometeorological advisories and weather alerts
- In-situ weather observations
- Weather-linked vulnerability assessments
- Seasonal risk alerts
The integration is expected to improve access to timely weather information. It can also support better planning and risk management across the agricultural value chain.
DiCRA to Provide Location-Specific Weather Insights
DiCRA combines agricultural and geospatial datasets to support climate-resilient decision-making. The integration of IMD data will add a stronger weather intelligence layer to the platform.
Farmers and other stakeholders will be able to access weather information that is more relevant to specific locations. Financial institutions and policymakers can also use these insights to assess agricultural risks and support informed planning.
NABARD and IMD Sign MoU
The MoU was signed by Sanjeev D. Rohilla, Chief General Manager, NABARD, and Bikram Singh, Scientist-G and Head, RMC Mumbai, IMD.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Shaji Krishnan V., Chairman, NABARD, and Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology, IMD, along with senior officials from both organisations.

The NABARD IMD MoU is expected to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture by improving access to timely and location-specific weather intelligence.
