The UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 will seek to attract Japanese investment across key emerging sectors. The six-day programme, scheduled from August 18 to 23, will be held across Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi.
More than 200 Japanese industrialists, CEOs, business representatives and policymakers are expected to participate.
The Uttar Pradesh government aims to convert Japanese business interest into actual investments, technology partnerships, joint projects and large-scale employment opportunities.
Japanese Investors to Explore Key Sectors
The high-level Japanese delegation will be led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture.
The delegation will explore investment opportunities in manufacturing, clean and green energy, semiconductors, digital infrastructure, skill development and tourism.
The programme comes as Uttar Pradesh works towards its target of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy.

The UP-Japan Investment Meet will give priority to sectors expected to drive future economic growth.
In green energy, the state will showcase opportunities in renewable energy, clean technology and green hydrogen.
Manufacturing and automotive discussions will focus on auto components, electronics and semiconductors. Japanese companies will also explore opportunities in digital infrastructure, including Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and data centres.
Business-Government Engagement Across Cities
Invest UP is organising the programme to connect Japanese companies with senior officials from the central and state governments, Indian businesses and educational institutions.
Separate sessions will be held in Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Greater Noida and Varanasi. The sessions will focus on converting investment opportunities, joint ventures and technology partnerships into concrete projects.
The Japanese delegation will be welcomed in New Delhi on August 18 by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Lucknow to Host Main Investment Conference
The main state-level conference will take place on August 21 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.
A key highlight will be the virtual ground-breaking ceremony for projects by Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation.
The programme is designed to go beyond investment promotion. It will create direct connections between Japanese companies, Indian industry, academic institutions and government agencies.
The initiative aims to deepen Japan-Uttar Pradesh economic ties while supporting investment, technology transfer, employment and long-term industrial growth in the state.
