India-Singapore Economic Partnership: Goyal Highlights New Avenues for Bilateral Growth

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level bilateral and business engagements in Singapore to strengthen the India-Singapore economic partnership. The discussions focused on trade, investment, technology and new areas of business cooperation.

Shri Goyal called on Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana. He also participated in the 4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) and the 4th India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR).

The meetings explored new avenues for mutually beneficial economic cooperation. An MoU signing ceremony also followed the discussions.

Business Engagements Focus on New Growth Areas

Shri Goyal held Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings with senior representatives from the global business and institutional community.

The discussions with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) and Keppel Infrastructure covered several emerging sectors. These included agri-exports, GCC-based commercial parks, fintech and sustainable infrastructure.

The engagements aimed to identify investment opportunities and build stronger business-to-business linkages between India and Singapore.

India-Singapore Economic Partnership Supports Agri-Trade

Shri Goyal also jointly visited an APEDA-FairPrice initiative at City Square Mall with Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry, Ms Gan Siow Huang.

The initiative showcased India’s growing agricultural trade with Singapore. It also highlighted efforts to expand market access and strengthen direct linkages for Indian agricultural products.

India-Singapore Business Forum Highlights Investment Opportunities

Shri Goyal participated in the India-Singapore Business Forum organised by FICCI at the INSEAD Asia Campus.

He joined a fireside chat titled “India in the New Global Growth Equation: Growth and Opportunity for Businesses in Asia and the World.” The session was followed by an interactive Q&A with members of the business community.

The discussion highlighted India’s expanding role in the global growth landscape. It also focused on opportunities for businesses looking to expand across Asia and global markets.

High-Level Delegations Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

The Indian delegation at the 4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable included Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Commerce Shri Jitin Prasada.

The Singapore delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong; Senior Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Mr. K. Shanmugam; Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan; Minister for Digital Development and Information Ms. Josephine Teo; and Minister for Transport and Second Minister of State for Finance Mr. Jeffrey Siow.

The engagements reinforced the momentum in India-Singapore economic ties. Both sides continue to focus on expanding trade and investment, strengthening technology cooperation and creating new opportunities for businesses in both markets.
