ECMS Approves 31 New Projects Worth ₹6,844 Crore

ECMS has crossed another milestone. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 31 new proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), worth ₹6,844 crore. This adds to the earlier approval of 75 applications worth ₹61,671 crore. MeitY handed over the approvals at an event in New Delhi, held with the Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA).

Officials Attend ECMS Approval Event

Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of State Shri Jitin Prasada, Secretary MeitY Shri S. Krishnan, Joint Secretary Shri Sushil Pal and ELCINA President Shri Sasikumar Gendham attended the event.

Vaishnaw said ECMS is building a deep-rooted ‘Swadeshi’ electronics value chain. The scheme has moved beyond assembly into domestic manufacturing of critical components and raw materials. Of 106 total approved projects, 38 plants have started manufacturing. Another 16 are at advanced construction or installation stages. The latest approvals mark first-ever domestic manufacturing of filters, coils, speakers, acetylene black and electrolyte additives.

ECMS Output Meets and Exceeds Domestic Demand

Production capacity now meets full domestic demand in several segments. Anode material output stands at 110% of demand. Optical Transceiver-SFP output reaches 350%. Relay production touches 200%. Enclosure capacity meets nearly 100% of demand.

Investment and Jobs Under ECMS

The 106 approved projects will generate 74,628 direct jobs and 2.5 lakh indirect jobs. Total investment stands at ₹69,548 crore across 15 states. The 31 latest approvals alone will create 9,588 direct jobs, with investment of ₹7,877 crore and projected production of ₹82,243 crore. MeitY also cleared an additional ₹1,033 crore investment by Wipro Global Engineering and Electronic Materials Private Limited for Laminate (Copper Clad) manufacturing.

Covers 20 Product Segments

The current approvals span 20 target products:

Sub-assemblies: Camera Module, Display Module, Optical Transceiver-SFP

Components: Enclosures, Connectors, Transducers, Speakers & Microphones, Relays, Antenna, Coils, Filters, Capacitors, Metal Shielding Covers

Supply chain products: Anode Material, Rare Earth Permanent Magnets, Acetylene Black, Electrolyte Additives, Metallized Films for Capacitors, Hermetic Terminals

Capital goods and their parts

Approvals Span 10 States

Projects span Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Key approvals include Minda Instrument and TXB Optics for Display Modules; SkyQuad Electronics for Camera Modules; SFO Technologies, GX Quantum Photonics and Huber Suhner for Optical Transceivers; Amphenol, Ennovi Mobility and Rosenberger for connectors; Centum Electronics and Sensata for transducers; and Epsilon C2GR, PCBL Chemical and Acutaas Chemicals for supply chain materials. Five companies, including Jyoti CNC Automation and Mitsubishi Electric India, received approval for capital goods manufacturing.

ECMS Strengthens India’s Manufacturing Hub Status

With these approvals, 106 applications covering 30 products across 15 states now stand cleared under ECMS. Projected production stands at ₹5,34,101 crore. The scheme will strengthen domestic supply chains, deepen value addition and reduce import dependence, advancing India’s position as a global electronics manufacturing hub.

ECMS aims to build a robust component ecosystem covering PCBs, passive components, electro-mechanical parts, sub-assemblies, camera modules, optical transceivers and capital goods. Approved investment under the scheme has risen to ₹69,548 crore, up from the ₹59,350 crore originally envisaged.
