Western Coalfields Limited Wins Best PSU Partner Award Under PMIS

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has earned national recognition. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs awarded WCL the Best PSU Partner Award. The honour comes under the PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) Recognition of Partner Company Awards. Western Coalfields Limited operates under the Ministry of Coal. The award recognises WCL’s strong implementation of PMIS. It also highlights the company’s efforts to build industry-focused internships and skill development for coalfield youth.

Western Coalfields Limited Receives National Honour

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs presented the award in New Delhi on August 14, 2026. Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, handed the award to Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & HR), WCL. Ghosh accepted the honour on the company’s behalf. The recognition underscores WCL’s role in connecting young people with real industry experience. It also reflects the company’s push to strengthen youth employability.

150 Internship Opportunities in Third PMIS Round

WCL has offered 150 internship positions in the third round of PMIS. The roles span key technical disciplines. Diploma in Mining Engineering candidates get 45 positions. Graduate in Mining Engineering candidates get 25 positions. Graduate in Electrical Engineering and ITI Electrician candidates get 80 positions. The programme carries special value for youth in interior coalfield areas. These regions often lack easy access to training and career opportunities.

Stipend and Benefits Support Interns

WCL has revised the PMIS stipend to ₹9,000 per month. Interns also receive applicable leave, free OPD services and access to subsidised mine canteens. These benefits create a supportive learning environment. WCL said the programme reflects its commitment to skill development, youth empowerment and building an industry-ready workforce.
