Patna High Court Deals Major Tax Blow to IRCON

The stock exchanges have been notified by IRCON International Limited that their writ petition over VAT assessments linked to the Ganga Bridge Project has been rejected by the Hon’ble Patna High Court.

The VAT assessment orders for the fiscal years 2010–2011 through 2016–17 are the subject of the ruling, which is dated February 25, 2026. A total demand of ₹108.75 crore was generated by the VAT assessments for the Ganga Bridge Project. A stay on recovery proceedings was obtained by IRCON after it had previously contested the assessment orders in the Patna High Court.

Orders were reserved after the proceedings ended in early December 2025. Now that the assessing authority’s requests have been upheld, the High Court has rejected IRCON’s petition. Already, IRCON has put down ₹27.39 crore out of a total demand of ₹108.75 crore. Excluding the interest that has not been computed yet by the VAT department, the net overdue amount is ₹81.36 crore.

In its financial accounts, the corporation had previously revealed the sum as a potential liability. IRCON has said that it will analyse the comprehensive ruling and proceed with the necessary steps, which may include appealing to a higher court, if necessary.

As per the SEBI (Listing Obligations and information Requirements) Regulations, 2015, this information has been made in accordance with Regulation 30. The business made it clear that no promoters, key managers, or persons in control are involved in the lawsuit.

In accordance with regulatory norms, the development has been disclosed to both BSE and NSE because it is material and the demand is large and could have financial implications.
