NLCIL Launches Women Solopreneurship Programme on International Women’s Day

Twenty women who had participated in a 90-day program to improve their tailoring and Aari embroidery skills were presented with tailoring machines by NLC India Limited Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli in observance of International Women’s Day 2026.

Sneha Opportunity School is hosting an effort put on by the Neyveli Automobile Association with the goal of encouraging women to start their own businesses and provide for themselves and their families in the Neyveli area.

Samir Swarup, the Director (HR) of NLCIL, B. Govindarajan, the President of the Neyveli Automobile Association, B. Vaidyanathan, the Chief General Manager of NLCIL and Vice President of Sneha Opportunity Services, and T. V. Sivaprasad, the Secretary of the association, were all in attendance at the event.

The event’s keynote speaker, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, lauded the program for empowering women, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and families impacted by the project.

Twelve women from households impacted by the project, five from neighbouring villages, and three widowed women received intense training as part of the program that began on Vishwakarma Diwas. This training allowed them to begin independent income-generating enterprises.

The occasion also included the CMD laying the cornerstone for the ₹23 lakh rehabilitation project of the Sneha School open auditorium, which would comprise a stage, green room, 100-seat hall, and better facilities, among other things.

In a partnership with StartupTN, the Neyveli Automobile Association is offering incubation support to aspiring entrepreneurs. This support will help them launch micro and small businesses or work independently, laying the groundwork for a successful entrepreneurial journey.

G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have a shared goal of women-led development, which this project aims to assist by increasing women’s economic involvement in creating a Viksit Bharat.
