In a significant push towards building a skilled workforce and enhancing employment opportunities in India’s power sector, NLC India Limited (NLCIL) — a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal — has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), the apex training body under the Ministry of Power.
The MoU was formalised at NLCIL’s Corporate Office in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework. The agreement was signed by Saravanabhavan A KR, Unit Head (Learning & Development) representing NLCIL, and Smt. S. Amirthavalli, Director representing NPTI, in the presence of senior officials, including NLCIL’s Director (Human Resources), Samir Swarup.
Under this collaboration, the two organisations will jointly offer a one-year job-oriented Post-Diploma Course in Power Plant Engineering. The programme is aimed at empowering Project Affected Persons (PAPs) of NLCIL and deserving unemployed youth from Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, with industry-relevant technical skills and improved employability prospects with leading power and energy companies.
The initiative is aligned with the broader national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, focusing on upskilling India’s youth, generating sustainable employment, and addressing the growing demand for a competent workforce in the expanding power sector.
This partnership underscores the commitment of both organisations to fostering inclusive growth through education and training, supporting economic development while bringing quality technical education closer to underserved communities.
