Mumbai Hosts National Forum of WIPS Meet Under SCOPE’s Aegis

Under the auspices of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), the Forum of Women in the Public Sector (WIPS) held a two-day National Meet with the theme “HER ERA – NOW & BEYOND” in Mumbai. Asha Ramamurthy, President of WIPS, and other WIPS office bearers were present, along with Chief Guest Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE & Member, Governing Body, ILO; and Guest of Honour Shirin Lokhande, Jt Labour Commissioner, Maharashtra. The meeting, which drew more than 600 attendees, presented excellence awards to outstanding female performers from different PSEs. Speakers during the event emphasised the importance of women in the changing global economy and the need to realise their potential in order to succeed both now and in the future.

With more than 16,000 members, WIPS (Forum of Women in Public Sector) has become the largest organisation of women in the nation’s organised sector. With a particular focus on the workforce in public sector enterprises (PSEs) in the areas of leadership, health, capacity building, and general female empowerment, SCOPE has persisted in making noteworthy progress toward women’s empowerment.
