Mahindra & Mahindra Bets Big on Maharashtra with ₹15,000 Cr Investment Boost

In order to establish its biggest integrated vehicle and tractor production plant in Maharashtra, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has declared a ₹15,000 crore investment. In 2028, production will commence at the new plant in Nagpur, further increasing Mahindra’s manufacturing presence in India.

A significant step forward in the group’s strategy for long-term growth and production was announced on Friday by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd: plans to build the largest integrated auto and tractor factory in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The statement was made at Advantage Vidarbha, a major event that promotes the region as an important centre for industry.

The planned cutting-edge complex will span 1,500 acres in Vidarbha and 150 acres in Sambhajinagar, where it will be located in a supplier park. The facility will become Mahindra’s biggest integrated manufacturing unit in the nation when it is fully operational, with an annual production capacity of more than 5 lakh automobiles and 1 lakh tractors. Mahindra has pledged to invest ₹15,000 crore in Maharashtra over the next decade, which includes purchasing more than 2,000 acres of land in three different places. For the purpose of supporting its advanced technology business and increasing product and engine capacity, the company would acquire property in the Igatpuri-Nashik region in addition to the Nagpur plant. Several important domestic and international markets are close by, and the Nagpur plant has easy access to the Samruddhi Motorway and other well-developed rail networks. In addition to bolstering Mahindra’s current facilities in Chakan and Nashik, the Sambhajinagar supplier park is anticipated to boost logistics efficiency, localisation, and overall plant performance. The new car plant can produce vehicles with a variety of powertrains, including internal combustion engine (ICE), electric vehicle (EV), and future technology, and it will be able to support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation vehicle platforms, such as the NU.IQ architecture. With the tractor unit, Mahindra will solidify its position as the leading provider of farm equipment, serving both local and international markets.
