Apple sees surge in demand for India-made iPhone 17

Apple’s new iPhone 17 series is experiencing strong pre-order demand in India, exceeding last year’s figures, according to industry sources. This surge aligns with Apple’s increasing focus on “Made in India” manufacturing and retail expansion.

Pre-orders for the #iPhone17 and #iPhone17Pro, which began on September 12, have shown significant interest across Apple’s online store and its physical retail locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Bengaluru. The iPhone 17 Air, noted for its light, sleek, and durable titanium design, is also attracting consumer attention.

Apple’s investment in India extends to its retail network, with new stores opened in Bengaluru and Pune shortly before the iPhone 17 launch. The company’s two existing Indian stores, opened in April 2023, generated approximately Rs 800 crore in revenue in their first year, with the Delhi Saket store contributing nearly 60% of this total, highlighting the strength of Apple’s Indian consumer base.

The iPhone 17 lineup is priced starting at Rs 82,900 for the 256GB model, with the #iPhone17Air at Rs 1,19,900, the iPhone 17 Pro starting at Rs 1,34,900, and the #iPhone17ProMax at Rs 1,49,900. This year’s launch also marks the first upward revision in entry-level pricing since the iPhone 12 series in 2020, though the base iPhone 17 now includes 256GB of storage, double that of the iPhone 16, making it effectively cheaper on a storage-to-storage basis compared to the iPhone 16’s 256GB variant at launch.
