Adani Infrastructure Acquires 1.03% Stake in Adani Green Energy

A promoter group entity of Adani Green Energy (AGEL), Adani Infra (India), paid Rs 2,380 crore in a block deal on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) to buy a 1.03% share in the renewable energy firm.

At an average price of Rs 1,400 per share, 1.7 crore equity shares were acquired in the deal. It was an inter-promoter transfer since the shares came from Ardour Investment Holding Ltd, which is part of AGEL’s promoter group.

As a result of the deal, Ardour Investment Holding’s percentage in Adani Green Energy fell while Adani Infra’s percentage rose. Since the shares stayed with the promoter group, the deal did not alter the promoters’ total ownership in the company.

This purchase follows Adani Infra’s June market purchase of a 1.31% share in AGEL from the same promoter firm for Rs 3,246 crore, making it the second acquisition in as many months.

One of the biggest renewable energy companies in India, Adani Green Energy, continues to enjoy promoter trust, as seen by their latest stock purchase. The Adani Group’s sustainable energy strategy includes AGEL’s expansion of its solar, wind, and hybrid energy portfolio.

The company has been actively seeking large-scale capacity expansions to assist India’s energy transition aspirations and is a key player in the group’s renewable energy ambitions. A continued trend of promoter entity holding consolidation is indicated by the most recent transaction, which does not change ownership at the level of the promoter group.

Since the block deal was an internal promoter transaction, market participants believe it will not significantly affect AGEL’s operations or governance structure. Nevertheless, investors typically see these kinds of purchases favourably since they show that promoters are committed to the company’s potential for long-term success.

As the need for clean electricity rises and investments in green infrastructure increase, Adani Green Energy maintains its position as a major player in India’s renewable energy market by continuing to develop capacity.
