India, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will create its own model of development while also acting as a global growth engine.
His speech at the ET Now Global Business Summit 2026 focused on the government’s plans to improve the economy so that everyone can live well and create a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
The innovations and faster decision-making procedures represented in the Union Budget this year, which prioritises capital investment and technology, have allowed for the rapid development of infrastructure, which Modi highlighted.
He made mention of important industries including semiconductors, biopharma, and artificial intelligence. In contrast to the previous government’s limited achievements, Modi highlighted India’s self-confidence, which has allowed it to strike free trade deals with 38 nations. He also applauded the UPI reform for boosting financial inclusion.
India, he said, will lead the world in economic progress and change the current global order by rejecting the idea of a universal economic model.
