As part of his extensive field engagements in the last quarter of the fiscal year, Harish Duhan, chief management director of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), visited the Bishrampur Area on 15 February 2026 for a detailed inspection.
The first stop on the CMD’s tour was the Amgaon Open Cast Project, where he or she examined the current state of mining, output, and safety procedures. In the last weeks of the fiscal year, he communicated with the project team and stressed the importance of sticking to safety protocols while keeping operations running smoothly.
As part of SECL’s programme for sustainable mining and environmental stewardship, Duhan later visited Kenapara Eco Park, an ecotourism venture that was built during the mine shutdown. While there, he spoke with local women who were part of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and had a look at the facilities built on the site of the former mine.
Reiterating SECL’s dedication to inclusive growth, environmental restoration, and livelihood generation in coalfield regions, he expressed appreciation for the revitalisation of the abandoned mining area into an eco-tourism hotspot.
The CMD also checked in on how the Amera OpenCast Project was running. Performance in safety, equipment deployment, productivity standards, and production goals was all thoroughly discussed. In order to meet yearly production targets without jeopardising safety or environmental compliance, he ordered the area team to increase output and maximise the use of resources.
In an effort to strengthen institutional cooperation, Shri Duhan met with high-ranking officials from the district administration and the police force during his visit. To make sure mining operations run well, he met with Surguja Division Commissioner Shri Narendra Dugga and Inspector General of the Surguja Range Shri Deepak Jha to discuss operational support, infrastructure development, and collaborative initiatives.
In order to personally evaluate progress, handle on-ground issues, and improve performance outcomes, CMD SECL continues to conduct frequent field trips throughout all operational locations. Such proactive leadership engagement as SECL approaches the end of the fiscal year demonstrates the company’s dedication to maximising production, reinforcing safety, promoting sustainability, and fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders.
