Adani Foundation and Adani Electricity celebrated National Mathematics Day on December 22 in Mumbai with a week-long series of interactive activities for students from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools.
This event honored the birth anniversary of renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and aimed to explore the theme ‘Math Around Us’, making mathematics approachable and enjoyable for primary school children.
The initiative, part of Project Utthan, intended to show students that math is relevant and useful in daily life, fostering a positive relationship with the subject. Classrooms were transformed into dynamic learning environments where students engaged in hands-on activities that reinforced their number sense, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills through games, puzzles, and challenges.
Activities included tangram challenges, Sudoku, and origami-based geometry, helping students grasp spatial concepts effectively. Additionally, a short film on Ramanujan’s life and a mathematics pledge were included to enhance their appreciation and emotional bond with math. Project Utthan promotes curiosity and confidence in learning, aligning with the goals of NEP 2020 and NIPUN Bharat, as emphasized by Adani Electricity’s spokesperson.
